Society Kart vs Bykea: Local Delivery for Everyday Needs in Karachi
Bykea is a familiar name for bike rides and parcel delivery in Pakistani cities. Society Kart focuses on ordering from the shops inside your own housing society, delivered by riders from the same society. Here is how they differ.

Bykea is well known in Pakistan for motorbike rides and for moving things around the city — parcels, documents and errands. For many households, "send it with a Bykea" became a normal phrase.
Society Kart solves a related but different problem. Instead of moving *your* item from A to B, it lets you order from shops inside your own housing society — groceries, food, medicine, milk, meat — and a rider from the same society brings it to your door.
If you have ever wondered which app to open for a particular job, this guide is for you.
Information about Bykea is general and based on public sources at the time of writing. Services and charges can change; please check the Bykea website or app.
The core difference: errands vs a local marketplace
Bykea is closest to a courier and ride service. You tell the rider what to pick up and where to drop it. It is very flexible — you can send almost anything across the city.
Society Kart is a marketplace. Shops list their products and prices in the app. You choose items, the shop accepts and prepares the order, a rider picks it up, and you track each step until delivery. You do not need to explain what to buy or worry about the rider choosing the wrong item — the order is the list.
That makes Society Kart better for everyday shopping from known local shops, while a courier-style app is better for sending your own items across the city.

How a Society Kart order works
1. Open the app and pick a shop in your society — restaurant, mart, bakery, pharmacy, meat, dairy and more. 2. Add items. You will see the price of each item set by the shop. 3. Check out. Minimum Rs. 500 of items, plus Rs. 100 delivery. 4. The shop accepts and prepares the order. 5. A rider from your society picks it up — paying the shop for the items — and brings it to you. 6. You share your 4-digit delivery code with the rider when you have the order in your hands.
You can follow every step in the app: Placed, Accepted, Preparing, On the way, Delivered. Full details are in How to Order on Society Kart.
Charges you can predict
For everyday orders, predictable charges make a big difference. On Society Kart the rules are the same for every shop in the society:
- Rs. 500 minimum of items per shop
- Rs. 100 delivery per order
- Delivery is not counted in the minimum
Courier-style apps usually price by distance and job type, which is fair for errands across the city but can vary. The How It Works page always shows Society Kart's live amounts.
Paying the rider
Both apps are used to cash. On Society Kart you can:
- Pay Cash on Delivery, or
- Send JazzCash or Easypaisa to the rider's wallet and upload the screenshot in the order. The rider confirms receipt before handing over.
The rider pays the shop at pickup, so you only deal with one person. Read Cash, JazzCash or Easypaisa? for safe payment tips.
Riders who know the society
Society Kart riders work inside the society they deliver to. They know the sectors, streets and markets, and routes are short. A rider can hold a small number of active deliveries at a time (currently up to 3), so orders do not wait behind a long queue.
Riders are independent: they go online when they are available, see delivery requests in their society, and track earnings and fees in the app. Interested? Read Become a Delivery Rider in Karachi.

Privacy
Society Kart keeps phone numbers private for everyone: customers, shops and riders. Contact happens through in-app chat and free in-app calls linked to the order, numbers typed in chats are blocked, and order voice notes are deleted after delivery. Learn more in Your Number Stays Private.
