Living in a planned housing society has many advantages — quiet streets, green spaces, your own markets. But anyone who has run out of milk at night, needed medicine during a hot afternoon, or had guests arrive unexpectedly knows the small daily struggle: you have to go out for everything.

Society Kart starts in PNWHS, Bin Qasim, Karachi to solve exactly that. This guide explains how grocery and everyday delivery works for residents, what it costs, and how to make the most of it.

Why start in PNWHS, Bin Qasim?

Bin Qasim is a large, growing part of Karachi, and PNWHS is a well-organised housing society with its own markets and sectors. Residents already have good local shops — kiryana stores, bakeries, milk shops, chicken and meat shops, pharmacies, restaurants. What was missing was a simple, trustworthy way to order from them without stepping out.

Society Kart works society by society. Shops are verified, riders work inside the society, and every order follows the same clear rules. Starting with one society lets us get the details right before expanding to more of Karachi and to cities like Lahore, Islamabad and Muzaffarabad.

What you can order

Shops in the app are grouped into categories. Depending on which shops have joined, you will find:

  • Grocery and mart — flour, rice, daal, oil, sugar, tea, spices, cleaning supplies
  • Milk and dairy — fresh milk, yogurt, butter, eggs
  • Bakery — bread, buns, rusks, cakes
  • Fruits and vegetables — daily fresh produce
  • Chicken and meat — fresh cuts by weight
  • Pharmacy — medicines and personal care
  • Restaurants and home kitchens — breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks
  • Juice and beverages

See the live list on the Services page and the approved shops on the Shops page. If a category has no shop yet, the app simply will not show it as available.

What it costs

The rules are the same for every shop in the society:

  • Minimum order: Rs. 500 of items per shop
  • Delivery charge: Rs. 100 per order
  • The delivery charge is not counted in the minimum

Example: Rs. 520 of groceries + Rs. 100 delivery = Rs. 620.

Prices of items are set by each shop and shown in the app. New customers may see a small discount on their first order at checkout.

Tip: combine items from the same shop

The minimum applies per shop, because each shop prepares its own order. If you need several small items, try to get them from one mart rather than three different shops — it keeps you above the minimum with a single delivery charge.

How long does it take?

Because shops and riders are inside the society, distances are short. Exact times depend on how busy the shop is and what you order — a fresh meal takes longer to prepare than a packet of milk. The app shows each step as it happens:

Placed → Accepted → Preparing → On the way → Delivered

Shops set their own opening hours in the app, and closed shops are clearly marked, so you will not place an order that cannot be accepted.

Paying for your order

You have two options:

1. Cash on Delivery — pay the rider when the order arrives. 2. JazzCash or Easypaisa — send the amount to the rider's wallet and upload the screenshot in the order. The rider confirms before handing over.

The rider pays the shop at pickup, so you only deal with the rider. More tips in Cash, JazzCash or Easypaisa?.

Safety and privacy at the door

Two features matter a lot in a residential society:

  • Your number stays private. Shops and riders cannot see your phone number. You talk through in-app chat or free in-app calls linked to the order.
  • Delivery code. You get a 4-digit code when you order. Share it with the rider only when you have the order in your hands; the rider enters it to complete the delivery.

Read the full explanation in Your Number Stays Private.

If something is not right

Sometimes an item is out of stock, missing or not as expected. Here is what to do:

  • Cancel quickly: you can cancel yourself within 60 seconds of ordering.
  • Report a problem: open the order and use Help & Support. A photo helps.
  • Rejected orders: if a shop cannot fulfil an order, it rejects it and nothing is charged.

The Refund and Cancellation Policy explains every case.

Tips from early users

  • Save your address carefully — sector, street and house number. A map pin is optional but helps new riders.
  • Turn on notifications so you know the moment your order is accepted or on the way.
  • Check shop hours for early-morning or late-night needs.
  • Use the AI Assistant in Help & Support to track an order or ask a question in Urdu, Roman Urdu, English or Arabic.
